The East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) was called to Holt Rugby Club on Bridge Road, High Kelling, yesterday morning and took the boy to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital just after 1pm. It arrived at the hospital at 1.20pm.

Sean Chapman, first aid co-ordinator of the club, said the youngster was taken to hospital as a precaution in case he had suffered a neck or head injury.

The 12-year-old, who is a pupil at Gresham’s School, Holt, had suffered a rugby injury about six weeks ago.

Mr Chapman said the injury took place during an under-12s training session match.

He added rugby club first-aiders first helped the boy and later called the East of England Ambulance Service.

It was then decided that the EAAA should be called.
