Children can trade in old books to encourage reading at charity shop
A charity shop in North Walsham is to champion reading for children as it launches a new book club.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), in The Terrace, off Market Place, will allow youngsters to pick up a new book at half price or for free when they trade in an old one.
Shop manager Sandy Creasy hopes the club will encourage children to enjoy the freedom of reading and share that with friends.
She said: “Not only can they buy a book, but they’re welcome to sit and read in our shop. There will be specials each week just for the children’s department.
“One of the main reasons behind the club is to help give children the opportunity to feel that this is their shop, as well as their parents’, and to be a very important part of it.”
The shop opened in April, and trades from Monday to Saturday.
