Swaffham town council has started taking bookings for the town’s first Friday evening market on August 17.

The event, which aims to encourage tourists heading to the coast for the weekend to stop in the town, is expected to include craft and produce stalls as well as live entertainment and late night opening of some local shops.

Chris Parsons, chairman of Swaffham Business Forum, said: “The business forum is absolutely in favour of the evening market proposal, and anything that encourages footfall into the town.

“We are also interested in how we use our marvellous civic spaces to promote the town and to adapt and survive into the 21st century, so for us it’s a win-win.”

For more information or to request a pitch contact Debbie Brown on 01760 722922 or email Debbie@swaffhamtowncouncil.gov.uk

Further evening markets will be held on September 14 and December 7.
