Did you know that up until 1959, it was actually illegal not to celebrate Bonfire night in Britain?

Here is a selection of firework displays taking place around Norfolk:


• Friday 6th: One of the most spectacular displays is set to be the free Big Boom fireworks event in the city centre.

The Norwich City Council event is now in its third year will take place at Norwich Castle at 7.30pm.

There is seating for disabled people which will be at the Gaol Hill end of St Peters Street.

West Norfolk

• Friday 6th: Fawkes in the Walks will be lighting up the King’s Lynn skyline with a range of family events beginning at 6pm with fireworks from 8pm, admission is free.

• Saturday 7th: Hunstanton Cliff Top Car-park display opens at 5pm with a funfair and a section of stalls before the fireworks get underway at 7.30pm.

North Norfolk

• Friday 6th: Battle of Britain firework display at the Walcott Lighthouse Inn, gates 5.30pm, displays 7.15pm and 8.30pm, admission £10 on the night, under 5’s free.

• Saturday 7th: Corpusty village green, procession starts at 6pm, and the fireworks will start shortly after the bonfire is lit at 8pm. Food will be available from stalls around the bonfire throughout the evening, which is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and a range of local groups.

Mid Norfolk

• Saturday 7th: Beetley Bonfire and Fireworks Party, tickets £10 in advance or £15 on the gate, gates open 5.30pm and fireworks display at 7pm.

• Saturday 7th: Swanton Morley will host its annual Fireworks Spectacular at the Village Hall, near Dereham. Billed as “probably the best village display in Norfolk”, the fireworks will spark into action at 7pm. Gates open at 5pm.
