The body of a man has been recovered from the water at Oulton Broad near Lowestoft this afternoon.
Police, coastguard and the fire service had been carrying out searches in the area following a report of a man going missing earlier today.
At about 2pm, the body of a man was found in the harbour area near to moored boats in Nicholas Everitt Park.
A Suffolk police spokesman said the man’s death was being treated as unexplained at this stage but was not considered suspicious.
She added: “Formal identification of the man has not taken place; therefore we are unable to confirm any further details at this stage.”
A spokesman for the Lowestoft and Southwold Coastguard Rescue Team said members were called out by police at 11.23am today and searched the area backed up Gorleston Coastguard.
He said Lowestoft firefighters were also called out along with the ambulance service, a hazardous area rescue team from Colchester and representatives from Waveney District Council.
He said a request was made for the Norfolk Police dive team to attend but they arrived after the body was found.
He added that at least six fire vehicles, 60 members of emergency services and at least three coastguard vehicles attended the incident.
