The death of a man whose body was found in a Great Yarmouth park is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.
Officers were called at about 6.15am on Saturday to St George's Park, on Trafalgar Road, to reports that the body of a man had been found on a park bench.
A spokesman for the police said: 'The death is currently being treated as unexplained but police can confirm there are no suspicious circumstances. A file will be submitted to Her Majesty's Coroner in due course.'
A Yarmouth man, who did not wish to be named, said he was running through the park in the early hours when he saw a body lying on the bench.
'It looked like it was the body of a man,' he said. 'There were police and ambulances on the scene, but the police activity had soon been scaled up rapidly.'
A police seal was put up around the park, popular with families and close to the Market Gates shopping centre, while officers investigated.
