A 30-year-old Great Yarmouth man has been jailed for three years after his blood was found inside a house that was burgled on Christmas Day.
Sheldon Petrie, of Admiralty Road, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court yesterday after pleading guilty to breaking into a home in New Road, Belton, on December 25.
The occupant of the property was visiting family nearby when a relative heard the house alarm going off. They went to the address and found a window had been smashed and blood on the floor inside. Nothing appeared to have been taken.
The blood later came back as a DNA match for Petrie who was arrested on January 6.
He was questioned by detectives and initially gave a ‘no comment’ interview but was later charged and appeared before magistrates at Great Yarmouth court.
Yesterday he was been jailed for three years and ordered to pay a £120 victim surcharge.
