STAFF at the RSPCA Block Fen Animal Centre are desperately trying to find owners for Tessa and Shadow who have been waiting patiently for new homes for more than a year.

While other rescue dogs have been spotted by loving new owners and taken home, poor Tessa and Shadow have been overlooked every time.

Shadow, a Rottweiler is three-years old and has been in kennels for over 12 months. She moved to the Block Fen Animal Centre in the hope that someone would come forward and take her home.

Kirstyn Gaunt, deputy manager at the centre, said: “Shadow loves human company and is looking for a patient owner who will give her the time she needs to settle back into home life, but she has so much love to give, that with the right environment and time she will make someone an excellent dog.”

Also in need of a loving new home is Tessa, also a Rottweiler. She is one of the older dogs at the centre, and, like Shadow, has been in kennels for around 12 months. She too was brought to Block Fen in the hope a new owner will come along and give her some happiness in her final years.

Kirstyn, said: “Tessa is 10 years old and loves people. She likes to spend as much time as she can out of her kennel with lots of human company. She loves having her tummy tickled and will do anything she can to please. To sum up Tessa, she is a gentle girl who just wants to give love to someone who is there most of the day and she will make a super dog in the right home.”

She added: “Both dogs are absolutely adorable, and it does break our heart seeing them at the centre. They would make such great pets in the right home environment, we really hope that someone will see their great potential and come forward and offer them a new home.”

To find out more about offering Tessa or Shadow a new home, contact the Block Fen Animal Centre on 0300 123 0726 or pop along during opening hours to the centre in Wimblington, March. Centre staff will be more than happy to explain the ideal home required for each dog, and to talk through any special requirements.
