A pack of working dogs whose efforts have created the jingle of Christmas cash definitely deserve a turkey leg this year after raising more than £5,000 for charity.
Newfoundland dogs have been visiting the Elveden Estate for 12 years, helping customers by delivering freshly-bought Christmas trees to cars in return for a donation.
This year was the dogs’ best year yet, with £5,216 being raised over three weekends.
The East Anglian Working Newfoundland group, who look after the dogs, have now raised more than £48,000 at the estate.
The money will go to a number of charities, including the East Anglian Air Ambulance, who have been given £20,000 since the scheme began. The Hemsby Lifeboat service will also benefit this year after the storm surge.
A spokeswoman for the group said: “We would like to thank Lord and Lady Iveagh for their help, Jim Rudderham from Elveden Estate and everyone who donated.”
