Archant Norfolk.

Shoppers in Norwich today and tomorrow are being asked to support a fund in memory of a 12-week-old baby by treating themselves to cake.

The Beatrice Octavia Iris Smith Brighter Future Fund aims to raise the £43,000 Great Ormond Street Hospital needs to buy a heart and lung bypass machine, which costs a total of £166,000. The fund, which has reached more than half way, was set up in memory of Beatrice, who died from a rare heart condition.

Her mum, Leigh Smith, from Warwick Street, in Norwich, has been busy baking cakes with the help of family and friends to sell on a charity Bake it Better stall in Norwich’s Haymarket, near to Next, this weekend.
