Village celebrations at Southrepps were a big moment for one of the youngest residents, Sebastian Lowe - though he probably did not know much about it.

The tot was born on the Queen’s birthday, April 21, this year, and, decked out in a union flag suit, he was among the fancy dress winners at a street party which had to move under marquees to escape the Sunday rain.

About 300 people turned up to the event, organised by the local village fair committee, which saw volunteers out early for a rejig of tenting in Church Street to shift more of the tables under cover.

Families laden with food tucked into their meals in the cosy atmosphere, to the sounds of a jazz band.

Committee chairman John Bryant said: “The weather put people off to start with, but by noon people were preparing tables. Attendance was not as affected as it could have been. People just turned out to enjoy themselves,”

The only casualties of the day were children’s sports which were cancelled and some outdoor attractions which called off.

Also during the weekend the newly-formed Southrepps Chorale performed its first major concert to a packed parish church.
