James 'Smitty' Smith was found slumped unresponsive on his sofa by his housemate on February 1.

The 26-year-old, of John of Gaunt Close, Aylsham, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Assistant Norfolk coroner Nicholas Holroyd opened and adjourned the inquest into Mr Smith's death today.

He said police found no evidence of third party involvement, and a post-mortem recorded the medical cause of death as opiate toxicity and excess alcohol.

Mr Smith had been formally identified by his father Steven Smith at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

The inquest will be reviewed on or before April 18.

Mr Smith was a reggae, techno, and drum and bass DJ.

The former Aylsham High School pupil was well-known in the area for his involvement in the local music and skateboarding/BMX scene.
