A visit to Westminster and a flight in light aircraft proved to be the most popular lots at an auction of promises helping raise money towards a school prom.
The fundraiser for WaterAid and the Aylsham High School 2013 prom took place at the school on Saturday and had been organised by teenager Callum Hall, 15, who attends the school.
Mr Hall, who is on the committee organising this summer’s annual prom which is taking place at Lord and Lady walpole’s Wolterton Hall, had written to, emailed, phoned and visited numerous business and attractions asking for items to be auctioned off.
In total, £2, 414 was raised on the night from the auction, with a further £175 in donations and £52 from the refreshments sold.
The flight in a Piper Light aircraft at RAF Honington raised the most on the night, going for £135, closely followed by a visit to Westminster and tea with Keith Simpson, MP for Broadland which was snapped up at £120.
Mr Hall said; “The auction went really well, there were lots of people who turned up and all of the items went for really good prices. We are really happy with how much was raised it is a large sum and we will keep fundraising.”
There are now plans for a fundraising fashion show later in the year.
