On Sunday, the crew from Attleborough fire station will be taking part in a national charity fundraising event for the Fire Fighters Charity.

They will be pulling an engine from the fire station in Thieves Lane, next to the recreation ground, all the way down Connaught Road, to Queens Square where the Christmas Carnival will be underway.

The firefighters will start pulling at 4pm and aim to arrive at Queens Square just after the lights are turned on at 4.15pm.

The firefighters will also be holding a tombola stall close to the Norfolk Kitchen Diner, and will be selling children’s firefighters helmets for £1.50.

The Fire Fighters Charity was set up in 1943 out of a desire to help wounded fire fighters and provide support to their families during the second world war.

The Attleborough Christmas lights will be switched by Radio Norwich presenter Tina James at 4.15pm on Sunday, assisted by the 999 Radio Norwich Road Runners.
