A leisure company has made a premises licence application to open an adult gaming centre on a busy Norwich shopping street.
Luxury Leisure has submitted the application for a building on St Stephens Street which is currently occupied by the clothing shop Utopia.
The company, which is based in Gateshead, has already had a planning application approved by Norwich City Council to provide an adult gaming centre on the ground floor of the retail unit and a tanning salon on the first floor.
The application stated the centre would be open from 7am to 2am, seven days a week.
There was only one public objection to the planning application. The letter stated the objector was “dismayed” with the prospect of the adult gaming centre and tanning salon and said “it should be condoned because of the potential for addiction.”
The letter also stated: “The city centre is well on the way to be awash with betting shops, mobile phone shops and coffee shops.”
The current occupants of the unit are in the process of a closing down sale.
Luxury Leisure has 84 town centre and seaside adult gaming centres, 45 tanning venues and 10 coffee shops across the country.
Members of the public have until October 2 to comment on the licensing application.
