The one-year-old Norwegian Buhund, called Alfie, was hit by a car in Ringland Lane at about 5.45pm last night (Friday), close to the Urban Jungle garden centre.

Owner Kate Smith, from Silvo Road in Queens Hill, Costessey, said her husband had been walking the dog when the pet ran across the road and was struck by the car.

She said the driver initially stopped, but Alfie ran away towards Old Costessey and the driver then left the scene.

She said: “My husband was out until 2am looking for him and he went out again at 7am this morning, but we haven’t found him yet.”

Other families from Queens Hills have joined the search for Alfie, who was wearing a black collar and is microchipped, but have so far not managed to find him.

Anyone who spots Alfie should call Mrs Smith on 07845 652398 or contact Taverham Vets in Fir Covert Road on 01603 867330.
