An inquest has been opened into the death of a Mundesley woman who died after a stomach operation at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Rosalyn Longhurst, 58, underwent a laperotomy on January 10 after being admitted suffering from stomach pain and malnutrition. She returned to the ward but was found unresponsive two days later.

Opening the inquest in Norwich today, Norfolk coroner William Armstrong said the cause of death was a perforated gastric ulcer and low body mass index due to malnutrition resulting from anorexia nervosa. He adjourned the inquest until further enquiries are completed.
