From brightly coloured scarves to a 19th century stuffed lion – an eclectic array of exhibits is currently being put in place for the latest show at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.
Magnificent Obsessions: The Artist As Collector opens at the Norwich venue tomorrow and will see the extraordinary and personal collections of 10 major artists juxtaposed with their own art work.
Damien Hirst and Andy Warhol are among the contemporary artists to feature as well as Arman, Peter Blake, Edmund de Waal, Howard Hodgkin, Sol LeWitt, Martin Parr, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Pae White.
As these pictures show, American artist Pae White's collection includes a beautiful selection of linens and scarves by textile artist Vera Neumann, meanwhile a 19th century stuffed lion belonging to Damien Hirst is also in the exhibition.
Paul Greenhalgh, director of the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, and himself a passionate collector of ceramic pots, said: 'This fascinating and hugely thrilling exhibition gives a real insight into how these particular artists think. Their diverse collections not only inform their art but are direct and tangible expressions of their creativity.'
