Ambulance chiefs have launched a new recruitment campaign to hire dozens of extra frontline staff in the region.
The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust, which has come under criticism for failing to hit response targets, is in the process of recruiting a total of 199 new paramedics and emergency care assistants (ECAs).
So far this year the trust has recruited 115 ECAs. However, out of the 75 new paramedic roles, 24 have been offered positions.
Adverts will be going into national paramedic journals from Friday and a graduate recruitment open day is planned for February 11 at Melbourn ambulance station in Cambridgeshire.

Andrew Morgan, interim chief executive of the ambulance trust, said that with life-threatening emergencies making up only a fifth of 999 ambulance calls, ECAs would be attending lower priority incidents.
“Having more than 200 new frontline staff on board is a big boost for the ambulance service and the communities it serves.”
“These extra crew members will, in conjunction with the raft of measures we have planned, mean we can really start to improve the service and care we give to patients,” he said.
The recruitment drive is part of the trust’s plans to improve the patient care and response times at a time when it is looking to make £50m of efficiency savings over the next four years, which includes the redesign of staff rotas.
