Some of the real heroes of the Norfolk and Suffolk storm surge crisis have emerged in the last few days – and we’re grateful to each and every one of them.

The RNLI team at Wells – all 16 of them including legendary coxswain Allen Frary – went to the aid of their station at the height of the surge – and stayed together through the ferment.

Nigel Pickover talked to them about their experiences and about the life they share as lifeboatmen
