Independent financial advisers Almary Green, which is based at Norwich’s Meridian Business Park, has just been announced as the sponsor for Norwich Theatre Royal’s 2013-14 pantomime which is to be Cinderella.

Carl Lamb, founder and managing director of Almary Green, said: “We’re delighted to be involved for a third year. The pantomime is a core part of what Norwich can offer families.

“It gives an ideal opportunity for them to get up close to real actors on a real stage in an environment that is relaxed and – the essential ingredient – fun. Going to the panto is often a child’s first experience of theatre and it can trigger a lifetime love of live performances.”

Almary Green is also the sponsor for Aladdin which is at the theatre until January 19, and sponsored the previous pantomime as well.

Peter Wilson, Norwich Theatre Royal chief executive, said: “We are extremely pleased to have Almary Green back as part of the panto family. They are great sponsors and we are pleased to work with them for a third year.”

When asked why the pantomime sponsorship is important, he said: “I have always believed the Theatre Royal has a task to perform in touching local businesses and persuading them our interests are the same. We want Norwich and Norfolk to be a thriving community where people enjoy living – we do part of the job and they do part of the job. Between us, we can make Norwich and Norfolk a fantastic place to live.”

Mr Wilson said work had already started on the casting of Cinderella and tickets are already on sale.

• Cinderella will be performed at Norwich Theatre Royal from Tuesday, December 17 2013 until Sunday, January 19 2014.

  • What Merrydancer-you mean like Norwich City Football Club ( and never mind Archant, it is their cosiness with NCC which should give more concern) The Sea Life Centre, assorted local zoos, the RSPB, the RSPCA and the National Trust-as well as other local businesses from time to time. All get more than their fair share of empty "puff" stories from Archant. The headline should have emphasised the panto not the sponsor.

  • What a fabulous piece of advertising for Almary Green....I hope they paid a lot for it....what was that?.. they didn't...they just suckered the EDP into a free bit of advertising on the spurious grounds that it was actually a newsworthy story....oh dear...what a shame....
