Fictional radio presenter Alan Partridge will make a Coast-style spoof focusing on Norfolk, a production company has confirmed.

The series, fronted by Steve Coogan’s comedy creation, will air on Sky, and a big screen sequel to last year’s Alpha Papa has also been confirmed.

Henry Normal, co-founder of Coogan’s production company Baby Cow, spoke to The Guardian about the plans.

“We are planning a sequel [to Alpha Papa], yes, that will be great,” he said. “We are also looking at doing more Mid Morning Matters and another Sky special, a little bit like Coast with Alan Partridge, except I don’t think he goes out of Norfolk.

“I think it’s things of interest in Norfolk, that’s the general theme.”

He added: “We start writing now. I think we make it at the end of summer.”

The BBC documentary series Coast tours Britain’s coastline of Britain, and was originally fronted by Nicholas Crane.

  • Mr T, to keep it very simple, just switch off or change your channel.

  • I watched Coast when it was on and showing Yarmouth. I think a spoof of it should be fun and besides, doing it sounds like he will show quite a lot of Norfolk and the coast and could do us some good, we need some positive reviews.

  • What's the bloke done wrong? to keep it simple I think someone once told him he was funny, and he was daft enough to believe them. I compare him to clouds, once they go away it is a nice day!
