Aircraft flight, Stephen Fry tie and photo of Boris Johnson among 100-plus lots at Aylsham High School auction

A flight in a Piper light airplane, a silk tie signed by Stephen Fry, tea at the Houses of Parliament and a signed photo of London mayor Boris Johnson are among a varied selection of more than 100 lots which will shortly go up for auction in Aylsham.
They have been gathered by Aylsham High School pupil Callum Hall who is on the committee organising this summer’s annual prom for year 11 leavers.
Callum, 15, has written to, phoned, emailed and visited scores of businesses and attractions asking for items to offer at the auction of promises, and proceeds will be shared between prom funds and WaterAid, the charity chosen by the prom committee.
Lots were continuing to arrive every day, according to Callum. Other items include an hour’s one-to-one tuition at a potter’s wheel, a shirt worn by Steve McDonald in Coronation Street, and an hour’s mentoring with 2008 BBC Apprentice finalist Claire Young.
Auctioneer Martyn Fox will conduct the event which will be held at the school, on Sir William’s Lane, on Friday January 18 at 7pm, for a 7.30pm start.
Callum and fellow pupils Phoebe Worrall and Harry Gillingwater all took part in the Cromer Boxing Day dip for the cause and prom committee members have been bag packing in Morrisons supermarket to raise funds. They are also planning a fund-raising fashion show later in the year.
This year’s prom will be held at Lord and Lady Walpole’s Wolterton Hall.
