A woman was taken to hospital following a two-car crash in Lowestoft last night.

Officers were called at 9.48pm to reports that two cars, a Renault Clio and a Skoda, had collided close to the four-way roundabout linking Blundeston Road, Lowestoft Road, Gorleston Road and Oulton Road.

This morning a spokeswoman for Suffolk police said a woman was taken to James Paget Hospital for treatment but her injuries were not as serious as first thought.

Blundeston Road was completely blocked in both directions while officers worked at the scene.

A stretch of the road was also shut to allow the air ambulance to land.

Another person was also treated by paramedics at the scene for injuries.

Three fire crews were sent to the scene shortly after 10pm to assist.

Witnesses to the crash and anyone with information should call Suffolk police on 101 quoting CAD reference number 445 of yesterday (July 26).
