Active Norfolk hosted a sports activity day for the NNAB at Easton College, with golf, archery and indoor new age kurling the activities on offer.

Eighteen NNAB clients, along with sports coordinator Rebecca Shubrook, and 10 further NNAB staff, volunteers and helpers attended the day.

Rebecca said: “The day was a huge success with people coming together from all around the county and not only trying out new activities, but also meeting new people, making new friendships and enjoying some good spirited competition.

“I wouldn’t say that any particular activity stood out as being the most difficult which goes to show that with the right advice and assistance, sight-impaired people can be actively involved in and enjoy most sports.

“Of the three activities the new age kurling was probably the most popular and most competitive! As a result of this I am now hoping to buy a new age kurling set to be used at the NNAB.”

Roy Abigail, a new NNAB volunteer, said: “It was really good fun. I learnt a lot and enjoyed meeting everyone.”

While NNAB client, Alan Harraton, added: “‘From start to finish we were made to feel welcome, it was like being part of a large family.

“To get the opportunity to try some different activities was great. The kurling was a hit with everyone.”
