The Queen left Norfolk today after spending the festive period on the Sandringham Estate.

Her Majesty left on board the 10.54am Great Northern train service from King’s Lynn to London King’s Cross today.

The Queen, who wore a dark grey coat and a light grey head scarf, walked onto the platform through a side entrance - which was renamed the Queen’s Gate when the station was given a period refurbishment in 2012.

She was greeted by King’s Lynn station manager, Graeme Pratt, who said: “It’s an honour to have her use the train service. I asked her if she enjoyed her stay in Norfolk, to which she said she did.”

The Queen arrived five minutes early for her train and sat in First Class.

Each year, the Queen and other members of the Royal Family travel to Sandringham to spend Christmas and New Year on the Royal Estate, near King’s Lynn, and then they return early in February.

  • Old woman goes on train. Only the EDP would report on such trivia. But of course mire brown-nosing the royals.

  • When you are nearly 90 and still doing a part-time job I would imagine you would be entitled to take as long a holiday as you like. And as for 'Air Miles Andy' I don't suppose he is clocking up the amount of time he has spent, unpaid, carrying out hospital emergency and air sea rescue work. Some people are very petty and ill informed.

  • That was a brief "holiday". They've only been here since before Xmas. Poor things. They need to speak to their son Airmiles Andy or their granddaughter Beatrice who only had about 15 holidays last year!
