A spa therapist is to attempt to complete a 10-hour massage session to raise money for Macmillan nurses in Fakenham and Dereham.
Emma Moore, 25, is undertaking the challenge at The Ficarra’s Spa on Greenway Lane, Fakenham, where she has worked for two years.
She is planning to give a succession of 40-minute massages on 15 people between 9am and 7pm on March 16.
She is now looking for volunteers to be massaged in exchange for donations.
The challenge has been inspired by Bobbie Brakes, a regular client at Ficarra’s, whose husband, Dave, died of cancer about 18 months ago.
Mrs Moore, from Litcham, said: “Bobbie told us what a fantastic job the Macmillan nurses do so I wanted to do something for them.
“The idea to do a 10-hour massageathon just came to me when I was in the middle of massaging a client.
“The 10 hours of massages will be done continually and I’ve allowed myself just one quick toilet break.
“It’s going to be very tiring so I’m hoping I’ll get a massage myself at the end of it!”
She added: This is a really good cause so I hope people come forward and support it. We are looking for people to be massaged in exchange for donations and also for people to sponsor me.”
Mrs Moore’s boss Janet Ficarra has supplied the venue and facilities free of charge. The spa, which opened in November, will hold an open day on the day with refreshments available.
Mrs Ficarra said: “We have had so many clients in who have either suffered from cancer themselves or lost loved ones through cancer; it’s a disease that affects so many people.
“This is a really good thing Emma is doing and we may look to do more fund-raising events here in the future after this.”
Anyone interested in making a donation in exchange for a massage or sponsoring Mrs Moore should call Ficarra’s on 01328 863260.
