Six fire and rescue vehicles were called after a diesel tanker crashed into a ditch alongside the A47 at Swaffham.
The accident blocked the road near the Sporle turn-off shortly after 11.30am.
Fire appliances from Swaffham, Watton, Dereham and King’s Lynn, the environmental protection unit from Sprowston, and the water carrier from Fakenham attended the scene.
A spokesman for the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said the response was precautionary due to the nature of the vehicle and its load – but no fuel spillage or serious injuries resulted.
The tanker has partially blocked the road in both directions while awaiting recovery.
