Emergency crews were called to the scene on the A148 on the Flitcham junction in Hillington at around 8.24am.

Police said two vehicles were involved in the crash. One female driver who was driving through the village when the crash happened, said: “I just saw this big cloud of dust then a car mounted the side of the road. Then people were running from all directions to help.

“I thought about getting out to help, but they seemed to be overrun with people. The cars looked like write-offs but the people looked like they were only walking wounded.”

A man who was driving one of the cars has been arrested and taken to the Police Investigation Centre at Saddlebow, near King’s Lynn.

The female driver of the other car has escaped with minor injuries.
