Nativities are a traditional staple of the festive period, but a church in Watton has performed its Christmas story with a twist.

The outdoor nativity took place at St Mary’s Church on Sunday, featuring around 30 cast members including tinsel-adorned angels, cloaked shepherds and crowned kings – alongside sheep and donkeys from PACT Animal Sanctuary.

The performance in an outdoor marquee, donated by Weatherill brothers, also featured various dance interludes from Spring Dance Company and live music from a keyboard and recorder duo.

A crowd of families joined in with carols including Away In A Manger and Once In Royal David’s City.

Addressing the packed marquee, the Rev Gerry Foster said: “Thank you all for coming and thank you for making it such a special occasion.”

The nativity formed part of a weekend of festive celebrations organised by Watton Churches Together, with a Christmas market being held in the town centre on Saturday.
