Cafe Dane Cromer, The Little Hygge Dream opened opposite the bus station last December,

But it's only now, thanks to the good weather and the upturn in visitor numbers to the town, that the owners feel really ready to start welcoming people into their little bit of Denmark on the north Norfolk coast.

The business in Cadogan Road is owned by Andy and Hanne Homer with help from their daughter Danielle Homer and Lauren Aldridge

Mrs Homer, who originates from Aarhus in Denmark, said: 'How often do people dream of owning a cafe by the sea?

'We took the opportunity to take over a little cafe overlooking Evington Gardens, with views of the sea in Cromer, which were apparently once sailed by Vikings.

'We wanted to create a Hygge (Danish for a cosy, comfortable mood) atmosphere with a little culinary difference and introduce Scandinavian delicacies, as well as the traditional savoury and sweet English cuisine, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. The recipes used for Cafe Dane have been passed down through generations in my family.

'We hope to expand in the future and spread that Hygge feeling across Norfolk and beyond, through the love of good food and drink.'

Other items on the menu include the famous Danish open sandwiches (Smorrebrod), homemade Danish buns and Scandinavian hot dogs. If that doesn't take your fancy you could opt for a traditional English breakfast, either on toast or a homemade savoury waffle.

The inside of the cafe is adorned with photographs of Copenhagen and other Danish sites.

Mr Homer said: 'We refurbished the front and the back and people can now sit outside and look at the sea. We must have spent £30,000 on refurbishment. We have had some great, positive feedback from locals. As the season progresses we hope to be open seven days week.'

Cafe Dane, which is dog-friendly, also specialises in freshly ground coffee, teas including fruit and loose tea, along with a selection of cold drinks. it's open daily from 9am (closed Wednesdays).
