The fiftieth anniversary of Top of the Pops takes place tomorrow and we are looking for your suggestions for the classic shows that you would like to see make a come back.

With a debut line-up that featured The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Dusty Springfield, the flagship BBC music show made a splash when it landed in 1964.

It may have been taken off the air in 2006, but the show’s reputation as a favourite in family living rooms around the UK on Thursday and Friday nights for nearly half a century remains.

Now, a survey has found that Top of the Pops is the show viewers would most like to see make a return to our screens.

But what show would you like to see back on the schedules?

  • I'd like to see a return of the Old Grey Whistle Test with some decent live bands on television once again. The original series was a bit before my time but I get great enjoyment out of watching them on You Tube every now and then.

  • I'm not quite sure how Alas Smith and Jones would come back to the screen, given that Mel Smith is now no longer with us. I suppose it could go by the name of Alas Izzard [substitute your own personal favourite here] and Jones
