A man who died when his silver Ford Ranger car left the road and collided with a tree has been named by police.

William Smith, 20, from The Common, Mellis, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision in Eye Road, Hoxne.

Emergency services, including police, fire, ambulance and air ambulance and a volunteer doctor from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service were called to the scene of the collision at approximately 11.50pm last night (Monday, July 21).

A silver Ford Ranger car had left the road and collided with a tree.

The road was closed until approximately 5.30am this morning to allow a collision investigation to get underway and for recovery of the vehicle.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who had been travelling along the road who may have witnessed the collision or seen the car travelling along the road prior to the collision taking place.

Calls should be made to the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Suffolk Police on 101 quoting CAD 635 of 21/7/14.
