Police have warned of road closures in Norwich this weekend as the Canaries kick off their play-off campaign.

Extra officers will be on duty in the city as David Wagner’s men face Leeds United at Carrow Road at 12pm on Sunday.

Norfolk Constabulary has said that depending on crowd numbers, officers may need to close roads before and after the match to allow fans to walk safely to and from the stadium.

The usual temporary road closures for football matches will also be in place around Carrow Road Stadium.

Supt Kris Barnard, who will be the operational policing commander on the day, said: “We know this is a crucial match and an important occasion for supporters and we will have extra officers on duty in and around the stadium and the city centre to welcome fans into the city and keep people safe.

“Good weather is forecast, so please enjoy yourselves, enjoy the May sunshine and enjoy the occasion.”

The last meeting between the two sides took place at Elland Road on January 24 and resulted in a 1-0 loss for Norwich.
