Consultation over future use of Benjamin Court in Cromer

Benjamin Court reablement service, in Cromer, closed in June last year. The centre provided short-stay care beds for people well enough to be discharged from hospital but not well enough to return home.

However, Norfolk County Council closed its doors as part of wider plans to offer a similar care service at people’s homes instead.

Now, people in the area are being asked for their views on how part of the empty building could be used in future.

Benjamin Court consists of two buildings owned by NHS Property Services, which are joined together by a corridor. 

One of the buildings is largely empty, which is the building Health Watch Norfolk and NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board (ICB) are asking for people's views on.

Estimated revenue costs to occupy the building are £353,000 per year: £132,000 rent; £9,000 business rates, £212,000 services and facilities management.

The other building is let exclusively to Broadland Housing Group, which is not set to change.

They can also share their ideas at drop-in sessions, which are being held on the following dates:

- Sheringham Library - May 13 from 1pm to 4pm

- The Hub at Sheringham Little Theatre - May 14 from 10am to 12pm 

- Roys of Wroxham - May 15 from 10am to 12pm 

- Community Supermarket at Wicken Green near Fakenham – May 16 from 10.30am to 12pm

- A spot on the WOW Bus in Fakenham Market Place - May 16 from 1pm to 4pm 

- Cromer Library - May 17 from 10.30am to 4pm

The consultation period will run until June 4 this year.
