The Lord Mayor of Norwich is swapping his mayoral robes for running shoes, to raise money for this year's civic charity.

James Wright will be among the runners taking part in The Norfolk Marathon on Sunday, tackling the 26.2-mile course starting and finishing in Cromer.

Each year, the city's Lord Mayor picks a charity to benefit from fundraising during their time in office.

Mr Wright, a Liberal Democrat city councillor for Eaton, selected the Nourishing Norfolk Network from the Norfolk Community Foundation to benefit.

The charity brings together groups of all sizes who work at a grassroots level to ensure communities have access to affordable, healthy food.

Mr Wright said: "I am delighted to be running the marathon in support of our civic charity, the Nourishing Norfolk Network.

"Together with their partners in Norwich, such as The Feed and Soul Foundation, they do such amazing work in combating food insecurity and providing support, advice and information and it has been a huge pleasure to support them this year."
