Aspiring bowlers can now get their chance at the much-anticipated Visit Great Yarmouth Festival of Bowls.

Applications have been opened for bowlers of all levels across the UK to participate in the tournament, scheduled to take place from August 25 through September 20.

The festival, in its 77th edition this year, offers a mix of competitive sportsmanship and community camaraderie.

The tournament consists of 12 bowls events including categories such as Men's Singles, Ladies Singles, and Under 21s Open Singles.

A donation has confirmed the prize money for the Men's Singles.

The winner will receive £1,000, the runner up £400, semi-finalists £100 each, and quarter-finalists £25 each.

The announcement of additional prize money across categories will be made after the closing of entries.

Winners will also be rewarded with trophies for each tournament.

Participants need to register on the official website, www.festivalofbowls.co.uk, before June 17 to be involved in this opportunity.

Potential applicants can email marketing@great-yarmouth.gov.uk for help with paper documentation.

The Festival of Bowls owes its existence to generous sponsors, and is particularly appreciative of funding from Visit Great Yarmouth.

Important sponsorship contributions have also been received from other sources such as Wentworth Holidays, Mal Dixon, Collier Turf Care Ltd, and The Priory 1101.

The committee overseeing the festival has noted that there are additional sponsorship and advertising packages still available for interested parties.
