Two Norfolk women plan to hike a 60km trail as part of their ambitious fundraising efforts.

Tanya Clark and Holly Gilman, are set to trek the entire Wherryman's Way, spanning from Great Yarmouth to Norwich, on April 15.

This hefty endeavour, a 60km stretch taking around 15 hours to encompass, is part of their fundraising efforts.

This hike represents a portion of their training for a 100km challenge in the Lake District in June.

Ms Gilman aims to rack up more than 400 miles in 2024, raising funds for the causes Pregnant Then Screwed and Pebbles Nursery and Day Care, which she is a chairwoman.

She endeavours to acquire funding to adapt the nursery's internal infrastructure, purchase fresh resources, and further staff training.

She said: "Roughly 20pc of the children going through our setting come from domestic abuse homes and that number has risen steadily.

"The Wherryman’s Way is a big challenge at 60km but having proved I can do 50km, I’m confident I’ll complete it."

Paired up with Ms Gilman for one hike is fellow UEA student, Ms Clark.

She's striving to raise funds for CALM, a mental health charity providing a listening service for those contemplating suicide.

She said: "In honour of my late mum, Mirella, a mental health nurse for 35 years, and someone who looked out for those that felt lost or alone, I am going on this journey to raise money and awareness for CALM.

“Growing up I spent a lot of time with boys and men and saw the struggles and expectations put on them by society – don’t be emotional, don’t talk when you need help – and I saw how harshly it affected them, and those around them in turn.”
