A BMW driver caught drink driving for a second time has been banned from being behind the wheel for three years.

Dog kennels owner Anthony Leeds, 56, was found to be more than twice over the limit after being reported stumbling around outside his car on Dobbs Lane in Rackheath in the early hours of January 27.

Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told police had followed him home where underwent a breath test that recorded 81mg of alcohol - the legal limit is 35.

Leeds, of Station Road in Salhouse, pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Those convicted of drink driving twice in 10 years face a ban of up to three years.

Julie Adams, mitigating, said he had become “overwhelmed” by personal issues and the pressures of running kennels looking after up to 30 dogs.

He had taken a bottle of gin to a lay-by and had fallen asleep but has since self-referred himself to alcohol support services, she added.

Magistrates banned him for 36 months and ordered he pay fines and costs of £643.
