Two door staff at a Norwich nightclub are facing accusations their actions led to a man suffering injuries so severe he had to be placed into a coma.

Simon Goldsmith, 42, and Christopher Parker, 37, both deny grievous bodily harm over an incident on June 3 last year.

Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told they had been working as security supervisors at Popworld on Prince of Wales Road.

Rima Begum, prosecuting, said CCTV footage was alleged to show them pushing a man as he attempted to enter the club.

The court was told the man had suffered serious injuries when his head hit the pavement including a brain haemorrhage. He was placed into an induced coma in hospital.

Ian Fisher, defence solicitor, said both denied their actions had resulted in his injuries.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction after Ms Begum said it was too serious for their powers.

Parker, of Copenhagen Way, Hellesdon, and Goldsmith, of Old Market Road, Stalham, will appear at Norwich Crown Court on April 16.

Both no longer work at the club and have had their door staff licence suspended, the court heard.
