Rail passengers were told not to travel as Greater Anglia suffered from major disruption earlier today.

Train travel between London Liverpool Street and Norwich were halted due to a major signalling problem, with several Greater Anglia routes from the capital cancelled or delayed.

The train operator urged passengers not to travel with rail replacement services operating between Shenfield, Chelmsford and Colchester, as signalling systems between Chelmsford and Ingatestone failed.

Greater Anglia told customers not to travel unless their journey is "absolutely necessary".

The signaling issue has now been corrected, and Greater Anglia has confirmed that trains are now running between Norwich and London Liverpool Street.

For any journeys delayed by more than 15 minutes, passengers could be eligible for compensation.

Tickets dated for today will be valid for travel on Wednesday.
