The appearance of two sinkholes has forced the closure of a street in a market town.

Ferry Street, in King's Lynn, has been closed due to the sinkholes which opened up in the road surface near The Globe and Crown & Mitre pubs.

Barriers have been put up around the affected areas and the street cordoned off to all vehicles.

Pedestrian access is still maintained, however, with nearby businesses notifying customers on social media that they are still open.

The Crown & Mitre said on Facebook: "We are open as normal and there is full pedestrian access but the Staithe Quay Car Park is closed off.

"For now, if driving, you will need to use the Tuesday Market Place and walk down.

"We try to find the silver lining in any situation, so the good news is you get an opportunity to walk a little further and walk off that lovely lunch."

No indication of when the holes will be fixed has been provided yet.
