Bus journeys in and out of a west Norfolk transport hub will be greatly improved by an increase in the number of services running from next month.

From November 13, service 3 on the North Wootton Circular will run three times per hour - increasing the number of journeys from 26 to 35 per day.

The service, which is operated by Go To Town, runs between King's Lynn town centre, Wootton, North Wootton and King's Lynn industrial estate.

A single trip on the service will cost £1.50 under the recently introduced flat fares scheme.

Reduced fares and increased services come as part of a £49.55m funding package provided by the Department for Transport, £12m of which will be used to provide new or expanded bus routes and increase service frequencies on key routes in the future, including more evening and weekend services.

Graham Plant, Norfolk County Council's cabinet member for highways, infrastructure and transport, said: "Regular and affordable bus services into our urban areas is key to getting more people to choose the bus for everyday trips and commuting.

"By increasing frequency on this service, we're giving those that live between King’s Lynn and North Wootton more flexibility to be able to travel at times that suit them."

Roads minister Richard Holden said: "Supporting the council and the operator Go to Town to enhance this service is fantastic for local residents, who will now be able to get to work, attend medical appointments and visit loved ones for less and more easily."
