People living in Dereham and Toftwood are still waiting for a flooded underpass to be cleared.

As reported, the path which connects Middlemarch Road in Toftwood and the Moorgate estate is flooded at the underpass which goes under the A47.

It has been flooded since Wednesday, January 22 and walkers have to make a mile and a quarter detour to get to the other side - while some are believed to be risking their lives by crossing the busy A47.

There has been some confusion over which authority is responsible for clearing the water with both Norfolk County Council and the Highways Authority passing the buck between one another - but County Hall officials said they were going to get the flood cleared last Wednesday.

The flood, however, has still not been cleared and the water is said to be even deeper after Friday's rain.

County councillor for the area Paul Gilmour said he would speak to the revelant department first thing tomorrow morning.

He said: 'It's quite an important thing - people have got an extra half an hour round trip if they go the long way round.'
