Train services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street are currently disrupted due to a person being hit by a train between Shenfield and Ingatestone.
The line towards Colchester is blocked and many services running through these stations have been cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
The disruption is expected to continue until 10pm.
Greater Anglia are asking customers to postpone their journey between Shenfield and Chelmsford if possible.
Customers travelling from London to Norwich can travel on Greater Anglia Services from Liverpool Street to Cambridge and change for Cambridge to Norwich.
Greater Anglia has apologised for the disruptions this evening.
Richard Dean, Train Service Delivery Director, Greater Anglia said: “We are obviously disappointed with the announcement today. We’re keen to talk to the RMT to try and resolve the issues involved and to avert industrial action.
“In the event of industrial action going ahead on Tuesday 3 October and Thursday 5 October, we’d like to reassure customers that we have contingency plans in place and intend to run a full service.
“We value our conductors highly and we have guaranteed their jobs until the end of the franchise in October 2025. In fact, we will be recruiting additional conductors, as we are replacing all of our trains with brand new trains from 2019, which will enable us to run more services.”
