Thetford Bus Station works to take place in next three weeks

09:38 08 July 2014

Work on the entrance to Thetford’s new bus station could begin next week, according to Norfolk County Council.

Contractors will move into Minstergate on or as soon as reasonably possible after July 14 for three weeks to prepare the entrance.

The works will see the footway adjacent to Poundstretcher and Wilkinson’s car park removed, and the footway in front of Iceland widened. This will aid the movement of buses into the station, according to a county council spokesman.

The priority of the Poundstretcher and Wilkinson’s car park entrance/exit with Minstergate will change as part of the works, with priority being given to vehicles on Minstergate.

The works will require a road closure on Minstergate north west of the car park entrance.

Pedestrians will still be able to access the underpass to Water Lane from Minstergate and access will be maintained to residences throughout the works.

Vehicles will still have access to Poundstretcher and Wilkinson’s car parks, along with pedestrian access to Iceland and The British Heart Foundation.

The work will cost £29,300 and be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Environment, Transport and Development Department and their contractors.

  • It isn't very long since the priority to Poundstretcherwilkinsons carpark was changed - it is just going to be restored to the way it was! What a waste of tax payers money.
