Family-run car, motorhome and caravan business Simpsons is investing and building for the future with a £250,000 revamp of its Great Yarmouth site.

Following work to extend the storage and display area for motorhomes and caravans at the Suffolk Road site, redevelopment is now under way to transform the award-winning Skoda dealership’s seven-car showroom to give it the car-maker’s latest corporate image and give customers new modern facilities and an even better service.

Andrew Aldis, managing director of the Simpsons group, said work started on the showroom at the end of last month and was due to be completed in mid-December.

The showroom redevelopment includes new Skoda signage and rebranding, new furniture, a revised entrance and fascia, a car configurator where customers can build and see how their chosen car will look, inside and out, on a 50in TV screen and new sales workstations and car display areas.

Simpsons Skoda is still open for business during the work, despite the upheaval, and it is also having a special sale of new and used stock.

“It is business as usual and we also have lots of special offers on new and used cars at the moment to move some stock to clear some space,” said Mr Aldis.

It’s the second stage of the site redevelopment with work on the showroom starting a week after completing a two-thirds of an acre extension of the storage area, bringing the total site to more than four acres.

Mr Aldis explained that Simpsons had owned the extra piece of land for five years and had cleared, levelled and surfaced it to improve the display area for its wide range of cars, motorhomes and caravans.

“Our frontage now goes the whole length of Suffolk Road and round the corner so it is one of the biggest display frontages in this area.

“The extra land gives us more space and storage to grow the business. It will be lovely when it is all finished.”
