MX-5 fans gathering for double celebration

Norfolk Fives, a group of Mazda MX-5 enthusiasts, is celebrating the iconic sports car at the Forum in Norwich on Sunday.
Formed by a group of friends a few years ago and based in and around Norfolk, their ‘Great cars, great friends, great fun!’ motto soon caught the attention of the National MX-5 Owners Club which invited them to become part of their network of official areas.
This year is a double celebration for both the MX-5 and the MX-5 Owners Club – the car has been in production for 25 years and the club was formed some 20 years ago.
Norfolk Fives is celebrating these milestones by putting 30 MX-5s on display at the Norwich Forum, so it’s 20 years of the club, 25 years of the car and 30 Fives at the Forum.
Alongside the owners, cars, Norfolk Fives has also secured a race specification car that people can sit in or have photographs taken with – the owner raises money throughout the year with Norfolk Fives for Mission Motorsport, the Forces motorsport charity. With another 30 MX-5s on show and the eye-catching Forum building in the background, it will give the opportunity for some stunning photographic images.
All available spaces have been filled with the best MX-5s Norfolk has to offer, the Upper and Lower Millennium Plains at the Forum have been booked and the display will portray the evolution of the world’s best-selling sports car from its humble beginnings in 1989 through to present day.
This event is just four days after the long-awaited launch of the ND Mark IV model that was unveiled online on Wednesday to a global audience.
The event aims to raise Norfolk’s awareness of the MX-5 sports car range, Norfolk Fives and the MX-5 Owners Club. Norfolk Fives has more than 150 local members actively involved and the group’s online presence has grown at an astonishing rate and boasts an international membership on the Facebook group of more than 375. The group also tweets all of its activity and maintains an active discussion forum.
