Barriers at a busy level crossing have been stuck down this afternoon because of an electrical fault.

King’s Lynn Police are diverting traffic away from the Tennyson Avenue, near the College of West Anglia in King’s Lynn.

The fault is with a circuit which automatically closes the barriers when a train is approaching the crossing.

A spokesman for Network Rail said: “for safety reasons the barriers will be down. We can’t say how long for but someone from Network Rail is on site now.”

Drivers are advised to take an alternative route.
