Police have had to close a road this morning after discovering a large hole in the road during a night patrol.
On their Twitter account, King’s Lynn police said a jacket was placed next to the metre-wide hole in Outwell Road, Stowbridge, near Downham Market.
Police only discovered the hole whilst on patrol around 6am this morning (Friday, January 12).
They tweeted: “Despite someone being aware of the danger, we received no calls.
“The hole is easily a metre wide, deep and long and has washed away a lot of the foundations. A danger for any motorist driving or cyclist riding over.”
A police spokesman added that they were not able to speak to the person who left the jacket as there was nobody in the area at the time.
Highways England were called to the scene at around 7.30am and the road has been closed between Highbridge Road and Middle Drove.
